Briarwood Outdoor Rink – Update!!

Thank you to everyone who came out today (Saturday Nov 21) to help with the liner installation. Due to the large group and calm conditions it went extremely well and we are now in the process of flooding. As a result, it is extremely important that everyone stay off the ice surface until flooding is complete and we post notice that the rink is available for use. As with most other activities, there will be specific rules posted regarding Covid-19 and we ask that everyone adhere to them this winter. We would also like to remind residents that the rink is operated entirely with volunteers and if you are interested in helping with rink maintenance or with rink supervision this winter please contact us at

Thanks again and stay safe!!

Briarwood Outdoor Rink – Volunteers Needed!!

As residents may have noticed, we have had our outdoor rink boards installed for a few weeks and we are now planning to install the liner and commence flooding this weekend. We are planning liner installation for 1:00 PM Saturday November 21 and we require a group of 12 – 15 people to assist with rolling out the liner and holding it in place until we get the puck boards and board caps in place to hold the liner until flooding commences. This should not take more than 1 hour. As well, in preparation for installing the liner we have to do some snow removal at the rink site and we are planning to meet at 10:00 AM Saturday November 21 for that work and could use a small number of people to assist with that work as well. Please email us at if you can help us out this weekend with either task.

For those of you who do not already know, the rink location is behind the Briarwood Community Centre (ball diamond) at 602 Briarwood Road.

Due to risk of Covid-19 transmission we ask that you not attend if you are not feeling well or have any cold symptoms. As well, even though we will be working outside and should be able to maintain 2 metre distancing we would still recommend bringing and wearing a mask.

Thank you!!

Annual General Meeting

Date:              Thursday October 8, 2020

Time:              7:00 PM

Due to the ongoing public health restrictions and risk of Covid-19 transmission we are holding our first “Virtual AGM”. However, participants will still have the opportunity to provide feedback and provide suggestions for future initiatives we should consider. We will have a brief presentation outlining 2019 BCA accomplishments and will also outline the issues we are currently facing due to the Covid-19 guidelines and restrictions. We will present our 2019 Financial Statements and 2020 Budget for approval and election of open positions on BCA Board of Directors.

We will conclude with a short presentation from our guest speaker, Jay Magus (City of Saskatoon) who will outline future transportation initiatives that will impact Briarwood including:

· Wess Road Closure

· 8th Street CP Rail Overpass

· Taylor Street extension

· Meadows Parkway

These are all near term (expected within 5 years)

Please contact us at or on Facebook and we will provide the Zoom meeting invitation. We look forward to seeing you VIRTUALLY!!

Virtual AGM – October 8 at 7 PM

BCA Annual General Meeting – Save the date!!

At our BCA board meeting on Thursday Sept 10 the decision was made to hold a Virtual Annual General Meeting on Thursday October 8 at 7:00 PM. We considered an in-person meeting however due to limited space in the Community Centre it would be difficult to allow for proper physical distancing resulting in a risk to those in attendance.

Details are still being worked out and we will post an agenda once finalized. We would like to have some type of pre-registration just so we can ensure a quorum for passing the necessary motions so if you are interested in attending please email us at and we will send you the Zoom meeting invitation.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to provide information and services to the Briarwood Community in these challenging times!!

BCA Updates due to Covid-19

Similar to the rest of our society, Covid-19 restrictions have impacted our Community Association. Although our Annual General Meeting was scheduled for April 22 we are forced to postpone due to the Briarwood Community Centre being closed as a result of restrictions on group gatherings. Once we have some indication of when the Centre will be re-opened we will set an alternate date and time.
Although we were pleased to have responses to our requests for volunteers to assist with Kinder Soccer this spring, unfortunately this is also on hold until we know if playing fields will open. Once again we will advise as soon as possible.
Thank you for interest and please continue to watch this website and our Facebook page for further updates.
